Exploring support for two minigrids in Guinea-Bissau
On Friday 23 July a delegation of FRES Guiné-Bissau and the Ministry of Energy of Guinea-Bissau met with the community council responsible for the solar minigrid in Bambadinca.
The minigrid services over 600 customers with another 100 on the waiting list, but is experiencing challenges to accommodate this growth and secure its future continuity.
FRES’ 10 year trackrecord of professionally managing minigrids in Mali and Guinea-Bissau triggered the ministry’s request to explore whether FRES can provide support to help achieving long-term sustainability for the Bambadinca solar center and village network.
The delegation also visited the minigrid in Bissorã that is also experiencing management issues and for which support by FRES is also considered.
